Sokovania's Development Is Going On Hold


Game development is a tricky thing. Not only is it a craft of artisitc expression but also a feat of engineering. You are constantly making tradeoffs, the biggest one being between development time and artistic completeness. Sokovania is a metroidvania with sokoban puzzles and actually acheiving that involves far more work than we anticipated. 

The main crux of the work invovles the openness of the world. The game is developed in a custom engine and so everything would need to be built from scratch.  Libraries help but it's all a bit ambitious for a relatively amateur programmer. And, we can't really ditch the open world. At least for now. The mechanics have been specifically designed to facilite large, non-linear levels.  Splitting the game up into individual levels would lose some of its charm. Accordingly, we will be taking a break until, hopefully, inspiritation strikes.  Thank you for reading.
